I tore my rotator cuff in the gym. I couldn’t move my shoulder more than a few inches away from my body. After a while waiting for NHS support, I called Richard, having previous had some sports massage there.
He told me that dealing with these injuries has been revolutionised in the last twenty years. “Rest” and give it time to recover was the old way, and it frequently led to life long problems or surgery. I’d been exercising the large muscle groups without giving the smaller, stabilising muscles and tendons in the shoulder enough time to strengthen too. My shoulder had become quite unstable.
He expertly checked the issues with every degree of freedom of movement, worked out which muscles were too weak and gave me a progressive program of exercises, beginning with isometrics and then using ever higher resistance bands. He highlighted three specific exercises initially, then once I could move the shoulder some others which I’ve been carrying out over the last two years.
My shoulder is no longer clicking, the joint is back in alignment and everything is perfect. Reading about other people experiences with similar shoulder injuries, I am very pleased.
I am very grateful for Richard’s expertise and that he doesn’t charge an excessive amount. Thank you very much!
