Not at all. Coming to us for a second opinion doesn’t mean the previous approach was wrong — recovering effectively from running injuries needs to be individualised. We’ll take the time to understand your history and endeavour to get to the bottom of why your injury hasn’t resolved, so we can create a plan tailored to you.
No. It’s actually easier to assess a calmer injury without added irritation. Aggravating your injury can make symptoms worse and delay recovery. Our specialists are trained to identify the underlying issues as they are, so you don’t need to make the pain worse for us to diagnose accurately.
We don’t believe asking you to run in pain gives an accurate picture. Discomfort often changes how you move, and running under observation can alter your natural style. Instead, we use smarter techniques — like examining the wear pattern on an older pair of trainers to see how you ran when symptom‑free, or analysing pain‑free movement patterns. This gives us a clearer, more reliable understanding of your running style without risking further aggravation.

To make sure urgent cases are seen quickly, Rich’s emergency appointments on Wednesdays at our Cambridge United clinic are released at 7pm every Sunday evening on the booking system. This allows runners to secure short‑notice slots when they need them most, without being tied into long waiting lists.
